Govt to increase scholarships for farmers' children: Yongyuth

Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Yutthawong said Monday that the government is considering how to increase scholarships for children of farmers so that they will grow up doing other jobs than growing rice.

He said the government will continue the One Scholarship One District project but will try to increase the number of scholarships.
“The number of farmers must be reduced and this trend is happening worldwide,” Yongyuth said.
“The number of people working in the agricultural sector must go down because a small number of people can produce foods.
“As a result, children of farmers must have new careers. It will be better if they can finish doctorate degree.”
