29 Bangkok parks to remain open for Loy Krathong

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is opening 29 public parks for the celebration of "Loy Krathong" festival on November 6.

BMA governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra said yesterday that other than the main event at the Rama VIII Bridge, Bangkok residents could float their krathong from 3pm to midnight at 29 parks, including Lumphini Park, Wachira Benthat Park and Saranrom Park. The BMA also said that all krathongs should be made of eco-friendly and it has banned the sale of alcoholic beverages, food and other products, including krathong, at these parks. The lighting of fireworks in the parks is also banned.
