Workers taken off oil rig in Gulf

The Thai Meteorological Department yesterday warned eight southern provinces to prepare for storms, as a Thai petroleum company evacuated workers from an oil rig.

After the warning of an immanent low-pressure storm, the Petroleum Thai Cooperation yesterday sent a vessel to remove 115 workers from the oil rig and ferry them to Songkhla.
Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Songkhla, Phattalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Satun and Trang could expect over 100mm of rain, gusty winds and high seas, it said.
