Political parties could seek opinions on charter draft : Winthai

Political parties can mobilise ideas and opinions on the draft charter as long as it does not breach peacekeeping condition, said army spokesman Winthai Suvari on Thursday.

If they attempt to seek comments on the draft inappropriately then it would be against the law, he added.
Regarding the attempt by some political parties that want to take an opinion survey within their own parties, Winthai said hey can do so without breaking the rules set by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

The spokesman said some political parties are able to seek opinions, as they already have access to their supporters. Useful information should be presented promptly. However, if they attempt to seek comments on the draft charter inappropriately then it would be unlawful. He advised them to seek advice from the NCPO first.
