12 per cent of villages nationwide to face drought

About 12 per cent of villages in Thailand will likely face drought in March and April next year, according to Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda.
He said his ministry would work with relevant agencies in a bid to ease farmer woes.
Anupong said the ministry had been working on a long-term plan to tackle drought by delivering water systems to all provinces.
At present, about 17 per cent in the country is without waterworks services.
