Allowance for people with disabilities to be raised

Monthly government allowances for people with disabilities will be increased from the 2015 fiscal year onwards, thanks to a plan approved by the Cabinet yesterday.
The proposal to increase the allowance from Bt500 a month to Bt800 was proposed by the Social Development and Human Security Ministry.
The plan, which won the Cabinet’s approval yesterday, also promises to have two officials man each service centre for people with disabilities in each province.
The plan also requires the Transport Ministry to ensure that at least 1,659 of the new 3,183 natural-gas vehicles be of a low-platform type, so it is easier for wheelchair users.
