'Men in black' deny charges

The so-called "men in black", allegedly involved in the shooting of civilians and soldiers during the clashes at the Khok Wua intersection in April 2010, yesterday denied in court yesterday that they possessed war-grade weapons.

Kittisak Sumsri, 45; Preecha Yooyen, 24; Ronnarit Suricha, 33; Chamnan Pakichai, 45; and Punika Choosri, 39; were indicted by public prosecutors on Thursday.
The weapons allegedly include M79 grenade launchers and M16 and HK33 assault rifles. They were accused of carrying these weapons to the Khok Wua intersection in Bangok’s Phra Nakhon district.
The state prosecutor said they were arrested on September 10 and detained pending trial after their bail requests were rejected. The four men and one woman retracted the confessions they gave police, claiming they were intimidated into confessing.
The court will hear witnesses on February 16.
