SSO registration deadline to be extended after New Year's

The plan to extend the registration deadline by 10 days for retirees to sign up for extra social-security benefits is not likely before the New Year break because the amendment to relevant regulations will not be done in time, a senior Social Security Off

Kowit Sajjawiset said the amendment would possibly be completed in late February, after the SSO kicks off the process to make changes to Article 40 of the SSO Act at the order of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Though the December 8 deadline had been announced a year ago, few people knew about it because of poor advertising by local authorities and the SSO.
Despite reports that large numbers of retirees had flocked to SSO offices across the country on Monday, the deadline day, many failed to sign up for the extra benefits.
