NSC sees no reason to lift martial law

There is no reason to lift martial law, as there's no disturbance looming and everything seems fine, National Security Council (NSC) secretary-general Anusit Khunakorn said Thursday, citing intelligence reports.

The martial law, imposed by the National Council for Peace and Order after it seized power on May 22, has had no adverse effect on society, “other than people who are planning to stage protests or create unrest”, he added.
He was speaking after attending a meeting with the NSC’s executive board, which is working out the next national security strategy to be implemented from next year to 2021.
