BMA to hand out 3.5 million condoms ahead of Valentine's Day

A total of 3.5 million free condoms will be provided for anticipated use by Bangkok-based lovers who traditionally have sex around Valentine's Day next week, deputy City Clerk Pheeraphong Saichua said yesterday.

He called on young lovers to be careful about unprotected sex and encouraged them to instead go the temples on February 14. The condoms will be available at 68 clinics and nine hospitals run by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
Pheeraphong said BMA statistics showed there were 45,926 Aids patients in the clinics and hospitals, from last year to January. Close to 80 per cent of them contracted Aids via unprotected sex, and of 72 of those admitted this year, 11 have died
