Public Health steps watch for possible bird flu outbreak

The Public Health Ministry will cooperate with the Agriculture Ministry to step up efforts to monitor against possible outbreak of H5N1 or bird-flu virus, Public Health Permanent Secretary Narong Sahamethapat said.
He said the H5N1 virus could be spread to Thailand by migrant birds that escaped the cold weather from their countries and there have already been reports of virus detection in neighbouring countries. He urged the public to inform authorities if their ducks and chickens die unnaturally.
