Ministry provides free tetanus-diptheria shots

The Public Health Ministry is providing free tetanus-diphtheria vaccine shots to boost immunity to these diseases for people aged 20 to 50 nationwide.

Dr Anupong Sujariyakul, director of the Disease Control and Prevention Office 4 in Ratchaburi, said yesterday the department had provided vaccine shots to people in 20 provinces in the Northeast since October. Since January it had been doing the same in the 57 other provinces, with the campaign ending on April 30. He urged people to get vaccines at a hospital or a tambon health clinics.
Anupong said about 4.8 million had been vaccinated and didn’t develop any serious side-effects. The ministry aims to provide vaccine cover to at least 80 per cent of population in that age group.
