Songkran spending expected at Bt22.8 bn

Bangkokians' spending during Songkran holiday period is expected to hit Bt22.8 billion, up by 3.6 per cent from last year, according to Kasikorn Research Centre.
This year's holiday period lasts 5 days, against 4 days last year.
Of total spending, Bt11.5 billion is expected to be spent on parties, Bt4.6 billion on shopping, Bt3.1 billion on travelling, Bt3.1 billion on merit making, and Bt500 million on other activities including movies.
