Passengers stranded as charter flight to Japan is cancelled

Some 100 people were stranded at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport yesterday morning after being unable to board a chartered flight to Japan.

Following a 1am announcement that Asian Air flight number DM 464 was unable to fly to Sapporo City, about 100 people out of the 233 affected passengers gathered at the terminal’s third gate.
Asian Air executive David Srichai-udom and a team from the airline briefed them and reportedly promised to refund the cost of the tickets within seven days as well as compensate them for lost time and for having to pay for accommodation near the airport.
Passenger Wichit Euaweerawat, 65, said he and 10 friends were disappointed as they had bought a tour to Hokkaido at Bt55,000 per head.
The flight was reportedly cancelled because it had not been approved by Japan’s civil aviation authority.
