The Singkhon border post is expected to be officially upgraded to a special border checkpoint this month, amid other infrastructure development projects such as road expansion, Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul said yesterday.

The National News Bureau of Thailand reported that a proposal to upgrade Singkhon border post was awaiting endorsement from the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for official proclamation after the move was approved by the Cabinet.
The special border checkpoint would ease border crossing regulations, as well as facilitate trade and investment between Thailand and Myanmar, he added.
