Tak SEZ starts to draw interest

Six business groups from Bangkok recently sought informaiton on the planned special economic zone in Tak, looking for a new trade linkage with Myanmar.

Tak Vice Governor Montri Chanachaiwibulwat said that the groups attended a briefing on the objective of the SEZ, tax incentives as well as development progress. They were looking for land for rent, to facilitate their trade with Myanmar.
The SEZ will be located in Mae Sot district which is connected with Myawaddy on the Myanmar side.
The second Thailand-Myanmar friendship bridge is now under construction.
The vice governor anticipated that once the bridge is completed and the Asean economic integration kicks in, the border trade should be boosted to Bt100 billion per annum.
