Shipment of blankets heads to Nepal

The Thai-US Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Combined Coordination Centre for Nepal at the U-tapao airport in Rayong's Ban Chang district yesterday dispatched an initial batch of 22,000 blankets to aid Nepali earthquake victims, it was revealed

Rear Admiral Kraisri Kesorn, deputy chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ Directorate of Joint Operations, said the centre was established on May 8.
The Royal Thai Navy was instructed to accommodate and act as an aviation base for Thai-US officers in the humanitarian mission, while the Royal Thai Army was instructed to compile donation items, he said.
The Royal Thai Airforce dispatched manpower and aircraft to Nepal, he said.
Kraisri said Thailand had sent 300 officers to aid the quake victims.
The blankets were transported yesterday aboard a US C-130 aircraft and another batch would be delivered today aboard a US C-17 aircraft, he said.
