Aung Than, president of the local business group, said that the management agreement was signed in January.
Family Business Group will invest US$50 million in the hotel project which would be branded Sheraton.
"We negotiated with our full efforts to bring the Sheraton brand here…The signing is a remarkable milestone of the hotels and tourism sector here," he said.
Ko Ko Latt, the firm's chief executive officer, added that construction of the Sheraton Yangon Hotel will be completed by January 2017 and the property is set for opening in July.
Located in Tamwe Township, near Kandawgyi Lake, the new five-star hotel will feature 375 guest rooms outfitted with signature brand amenities. Other property offerings will include Shine Spa for Sheraton, three dining venues, and recreation facilities ranging from a swimming pool to a fitness centre.
Within a 30-minute drive from the Yangon International Airport, the hotel also looks to host conferences with a 1,880-sqm function room.
Myanmar has drawn some international brands like The Kempinski, Hilton and Shangri-La.
