Scissors attack suspect surrenders

A 33-year-old man recently caught by a security camera stabbing and seriously injuring his 19-year-old girlfriend in front of her Bangkok home in broad daylight surrendered to police yesterday.

Messenger Worachai Leelawanlop told police that the victim, who had broke up with him, dismissed his attempt to make up with her and scolded his parents so he became enraged, attacked her with the scissors from her food stall, and fled.
Worachai, for whom the Criminal Court had earlier yesterday approved an arrest warrant, was presented to the press yesterday afternoon along with the six-inch scissors used in the attack.
He has been charged with attempted murder.
The woman was conscious but still in critical condition yesterday and was yet to talk to police, her relatives said.
The May 26 attack got public attention, as the video of it went viral on the Internet.
