Suwapan denies plan to collect taxes from monks

PM's Office Minister SuwapanTanyuwattana denied that the now-defunct Buddhism reform committee has proposed collecting taxes on monks who have income of over Bt20,000 a month.

Suwapan, who supervises the National Buddhism Office, said the reform panel did not submit the proposal. He said the government would reform the national  religion in line with suggestions of representatives of monks.
