Phuket environmental activist Sirinee dies
Environmental activist Sirinee Yomana, founder of the Phuket Environmental Protection Group, passed away yesterday due to cancer.
She successfully led a campaign against a plan to build a tantalum plant and later succeeded in saving Tha Chatchai, a major pristine area in northern Phuket, from a takeover attempt by a foreign billionaire. Sirinee’s former name was Kanokporn.
Her cremation is planned for this Wednesday
