NRC may vote on charter draft on Sept 7

The National Reform Council (NRC) whips on Wednesday resolved to schedule September 7 as the date for the NRC to vote on the charter draft, their secretary Alongkorn Ponlaboot said after their meeting.
However, Alongkorn said that the date was not yet official as it needed to be endorsed by NRC President Thienchay Kiranandana, who is currently in hospital.
Alongkorn said the date could be either September 5, 6 or 7, depending on Thienchay’s decision.
The whip also resolved to open the door for its members to propose additional questions for the national referendum being held on the charter draft, he said. A meeting to discuss such questions has been tentatively scheduled for between August 17 and 21.
