Lands whose concessions have ended being surveyed

The Forestry Department's Forest Resource Management Office 12 in Krabi province is surveying 63,000 rai of land whose concessions have expired and several of which were reportedly sold to others.

Office director Boonsueb Samakrat and officials yesterday inspected a 19,950-rai oil-palm plantation covering parts of Ao Luk and Plai Phraya districts after its concession to a private company had expired in 2000.
He said the team’s inspection of lands, whose concessions to 11 companies had expired, was part of the department director-general’s policy to use these lands for reallocation to landless people. The information would be checked with Krabi Agricultural Land Reform Office and Krabi Land Office for land-rights document issuance, so those without title deeds could be included in the reallocation, he added.
