Rice mill owner acquitted of Bt11m embezzlement

The Appeals Court Region 3 has acquitted the owner of a famous rice mill in Chaiyaphum's Ban Khwao district while upholding suspended jail terms for nine farmers in a case involving 750 tonnes of rice.

The development was revealed by out-going Chaiyaphum Governor Wichian Chantaranothai Thursday.
Wichian, to be installed as Nakhon Ratchasima governor next month after serving as Chaiyaphum governor for a year, said it would be up his successor and related agencies to continue to fight to protect the country’s benefits and take the case to the Supreme Court.
He said he would coordinate with related agencies on the case until during the time he had left at the helm of this northeastern province.
