Pheu Thai opposed to single Internet gateway proposal

The Pheu Thai Party Thursday expressed strong opposition to the use of single Internet gateway measure, saying it would affect the economy and jeopardize Thailand's ambitious dream of transforming itself into Asean's digital economy hub.
The opposition was announced at a press conference held by former Information and Communications Technology minister Anudit Nakhonthap and Pheu Thai deputy spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ard.
Anudit said the proposal met with strong opposition by IT experts and the single gateway would jeopardise the entire Internet network of the country.
He said if the gateway breaks down with technical errors, it would severely affect the business sector and destroy investors’ confidence in Thailand.
