Among the outgoing members were Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and some recently-retired security officers, including former police chief Somyot Poompanmuang.
The newcomers included General Theerachai Nakvanich, the new army chief, who will assume the role of secretary general, and General Preecha Chan-o-cha, the PM’s brother and permanent secretary of Defence.
The membership of Meechai Ruchupan remains unchanged in the council, although his candidacy for chairman of the new Constitution Drafting Committee has raised some top-brass eyebrows.
The rest of the council also remains unchanged. The council consists of 15 members, including Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha as its head, Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan as the deputy, and now Theerachai as the secretary general.
