Meechai says he has to accept CDC chairmanship

Meechai Ruchupan, the newly-appointed chairman of the new Constitution Drafting Committee, said Monday that he was told by the prime minister that he had to accept the chairmanship.
Meechai said asked Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha during a meeting on Friday whether it was necessary for him to take up the post and Prayut replied that “it’s very necessary and unavoidable”.
“Since the prime minister, who takes the highest responsibility and who took the risk by taking office to solve the country’s problems, insisted that it was necessary, I had no reasons to ask more questions,” Meechai said.
