“We will also extend the cooperation through transportation networks and not regard borders as obstacles in the cooperation,” Prayut said. But safety at the border checkpoints would be ensured.
He said that Thailand would have a national election and his government was working to the road-map timeline it set when it took office.
He assured the envoys that his government was trying to solve many problems in order to upgrade the country’s overall standard to an international and acceptable level, such as tackling illegal, unreported and unregistered fishing and human trafficking and improving the aviation industry.
He asked the envoys to disseminate these policies so foreign countries have a better understanding of the government.
The premier said the economy was one of the government’s significant tasks and it had introduced urgent measures to help the low-income earners, farmers and small- and medium-sized businesses.
“We also have mid- and long-term policies to build up strength for the domestic economy and to lay down the structures for the country,” he said.
“I would like to see our envoys help push the economic policies in foreign countries and help Thai business operators have the capacity to be more competitive.”
He said his government wished to emphasise the building of mutual benefit among all parties and this would be linked to Thailand’s plus-one policy, which would result in Thailand supporting investments in neighbouring countries so everyone grew together.
Thai embassies should become hubs to provide one-stop services for those interested in Thailand.
The premier asked the envoys to ensure that Thais living abroad can rely on their embassies and also called on them to promote Thai unity.
