Fallen power poles crash onto homes, cars

The Provincial Electricity Authority has cleared dozens of power poles which fell onto 10 homes and 10 cars and led to Bt21 million in damages in Ayutthaya's Wang Noi district on Friday.

The agency installed temporary power poles to provide electricity to some 200 homes.
The PEA  would access the damages thoroughly on Monday for compensation payment, said the agency’s Wang Noi branch manager Suwat Pak-insee.
A storm on Friday afternoon caused the some 30 high-voltage poles and 50 normal poles along Rojana Road to fall.
The incident also resulted in a severe traffic jam and a blackout.
No one was injured and a nearby industrial estate wasn’t affected.
