Prayut had to issue the latest order to remove Parnthep as the NACC chairman to pave way for the election of the new chairman by nine NACC members.
The latest order was needed because the NCPO chief earlier issued an order No 28/2558 to extend term of Parnthep as the NACC chairman pending the selection of five new NACC members to replace him and four other NACC members who have completed their term. Parnthep was supposed to retire on May 22 because he turned 70 years old.
Now that the National Legislative Assembly approved the appointments of five new NACC members on November 19, the NCPO chief issued the latest order to remove Parnthep so that the new chairman of the anti-graft body could be elected.
