Inexperienced driver drives car off third storey

A pick-up truck was driven off the third storey of a parking lot at Chiang Mai’s Central Festival Mall early Wednesday, crashing into an empty parked sedan below and injuring two people.
Damages were estimated as Bt300,000 and the cause of the accident, which occurred just after midnight, was believed to have stemmed from the driver’s inexperience.
The driver Prathanporn Taemklong, 19, fractured his left leg and arm, passenger Peerapong Khampong, 19, who sustained a cut on the eyebrow, were rushed to a nearby hospital. Initial investigation showed that Prathanporn was unable to control the car’s speed as it hit the metal barrier and fell on to the lower level.
