Sansern said the Council of State had finished its review of the bill to set up the court as had been proposed by the Office of the Court of Justice.
However, the creation of the court requires legislation affecting other relevant laws so it is not yet clear when it will be established.
“This marks the beginning of the process to set up the court so that corruption cases do not face lengthy court procedures. Corrupt people can face the consequences of their offences sooner,’’ Sansern said.
According to the bill, the Central Criminal Court’s Corruption Case Division would be established with jurisdiction over Bangkok and suburbs and the Regional Criminal Court’s Corruption Case Division would have jurisdiction as stipulated in the Royal Decree.
