Court sentences Myanmar men to death

A Thai courts sentenced two migrant workers from Myanmar to death on Thursday after finding them guilty of the 2014 murders of two British tourists on a holiday island.

The verdict follows an investigation and trial that wasmired in controversy, including allegations of policeincompetence, mishandling of evidence and torture of thesuspects.
Backpackers Hannah Witheridge and David Miller were found dead on a beach on the island of Koh Tao in September 2014.
Following weeks of pressure to solve the case, policearrested Myanmar migrant workers Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Tun andsaid the two had confessed to the crimes. Both later retractedtheir confessions saying they had been made under duress.//Reuters
