AMLO earns Bt150m from auction of seized items

SOME 59 items

The event, held at AMLO headquarters, featured items such as a brand-new Mercedes sedan seized in the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Lat Krabang embezzlement case. The starting price for the Mercedes has been cut to Bt5.8 million because it failed to draw bids in two previous auctions. A double-decker bus seized from a Phitsanulok gambling den has been given a price tag of Bt2.5 million, and starting prices for Apple gadgets ranged from Bt3,000 to Bt4,500.
AMLO auctions this year had added some Bt150 million to state coffers, Aim-orn said. This was double the sum earned last year thanks to key cases such as lese majeste arrests and a |racketeering network led by former Central Investigation Bureau chief Pongpat Chayapan, whose seized items were sold for Bt80 million.
