As a New Year 2016 gift, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has launched an Android mobile-phone application under the agency’s Thai name to allow the public to file complaints through an easy process that requires a complainer’s 13-digit Thai

DSI director-general Pol Colonel Paisit Wongmuang also announced yesterday that the department had taken up 625 new cases this year while it succeeded in closing 816 cases, including three linked to the embezzlement scandal at the Bangkok-based Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative. Next year, the agency will speed up its investigations into key cases involving influential figures, he said.
The DSI also aims to collaborate with provincial governors, he said, to watch out for and provide people with information about pyramid schemes. These seem to be becoming widespread, especially on the Internet, and the DSI is currently handling 112 such cases with total value of about Bt10 billion, he added.
