Twenty-one people freeze to death in Poland over the weekend

Warsaw - Twenty-one people froze to death in Poland over the weekend as temperatures sank to minus 15 degrees Celsius, a police spokeswoman said on Monday.

Since the night of December 31, a total of 26 people have died from the cold, the spokeswoman said.
She added that passers-by should not react callously if homeless or inebriated people fall asleep in building entrances or bus-stops and thereby risked freezing to death.
She also appealed for more neighbourliness towards the elderly and the frail.
