Prawit urges Asean to share intelligence

Thailand Friday called for greater cooperation on the exchange of intelligence among Asean countries following Thursday’s deadly terrorist attack in Indonesia.

Indonesia has identified so-called Islamic State (IS) suicide bombers and gunmen as being behind the siege near a busy shopฌping district in Jakarta that left seven people dead including five attackers.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said the intelligence cooperation was urgently needed now that the IS brand of terrorism had entered the Asean region.
“We have to exchange more intelฌligence information on the issue because what happened in Indonesia showed that the IS netฌwork is already in our region,” he said.
