Hall said that the worker leader said that all 1,400-plus workers, mostly Myanmar nationals, at the Mahachai tuna factory would stop working after their shift finishes today.
"Workers announced they will stop working until their complaints are properly managed by Labour Department," he said.
The labour office agreed to accept the complaints from workers at the factory tomorrow.
Workers have claimed that Golden Prize Canning owed them back-payments. A strike was organised in November while MWRN helped launch negotiation with the employer. In December, the company terminated the discussion with workers, saying it would only settle the dispute through the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.
