Nok Air cancels more flights

Nok Air is cancelling more flights, 10 flights a day, until March 10 to comply with aviation safety regulations.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said today that the flight cancellations would be announced on a daily basis.
He said Nok Air said in its notification to the aviation authority that internal problems persist.
Regarding reports that 17 Nok Air pilots have resigned, Arkhom said that some of them have returned and the airline was in the process to recruit new pilots. At present, the airline has 190 pilots and the crew will be soon added by 15 Boeing pilots.
A source in the airline said that since February 23, 17 pilots have tendered resignation, to be effective on March 1. He also expected more to follow suit.
Yesterday, Nok Air Chief Executive Officer Patee Sarasin downplayed the pessimism. He said it was normal that when a captain resigned, those in his peer would resort to the same action.
