Water trucks deployed by Thai government as drought continues

Bangkok - The Thai government deployed more than 700 trucks to carry water to 18 provinces as a nationwide drought continues, the government said Wednesday.

At least 2,580 villages in the stricken provinces are currently declared disaster zones from the drought, the Department of Disaster Mitigation and Prevention said in a statement.
The 713 water trucks will make multiple trips, the statement added.
The governor of Kalasin province, Winai Witayanukul, revealed that since the drought began his administration has had to distribute more than 3.9 million litres of emergency water to villages.
He called on the central government to continue its assistance as rainy season was still over a month away.
