Japanese man arrested for allegedly having sex with underage boys
A 49-year-old Japanese man was arrested in Chiang Mai by Department of Special Investigation officials on charges of having sex with boys under 15.
Matsubara Teruaki was arrested at a guesthouse in Mueang Chiang Mai district at 7 am.
The DSI got a search warrant for checking Matsubara’s room following tips-off that the tourist had been buying sex from underage boys.
DSI officials and local police checked and found two boy, age 12 and 14 years old, in the room with the Japanese man.
Pol Capt Kemachart Prakaihongmaee, a DSI official who led the raid, said the Japanese man had visited Chiang Mai several times and in the latest trip, he checked in at the guesthouse a month ago.
