The Metropolitan Police Bureau on Monday announced that more than 3,000 punters and 18 bookies were arrested in the crackdown on gambling on Euro 2016 matches.

Among those arrested are seven suspects thought to be major online bookies.
Deputy city police chief Maj-General Somchai Nitayabowornkul announced the operation had resulted in 3,137 punters and 23 ticket runners being arrested as well as the seizure of Bt285,430 and 176 betting tickets worth Bt2 million.
Somchai said the seven major bookies had at least 200 customers each as well as computer severs located in other countries such as South Korean, Malaysia and the United States.
He said the seven bookies’ activities had generated a combined Bt1 billion.
He said police would ask the Anti-Money Laundering Office to check the suspects’ money transactions so their assets could be seized.
