The ministry quoted the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara as saying that the Turkish government has brought the situation in control and there was no Thai national injury nor death in this incident. The ministry also reported some Thais got struck at the Istanbul Airport including a Tel Aviv-based envoy who then contacted the embassy to take care of them until the situation calm down. The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara as well as the ministry urged all Thais in Turkey – there were 424 Thais there including 198 students – to remain in their residences, avoid coming out in public places, and follow news development closely. Natural Resources and Environment permanent secretary Kasemsan Jinnawaso commented that he was confident the Turkish government could provide security to all the delegates at the Istanbul meeting and that the Thai delegation wouldn’t return to Thailand until the situation calm down.
