PM to vote 'Yes' for charter draft

With only two days to go for Sunday's referendum, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday announced publicly that he will vote “Yes" for the new constitution and the additional question after studying the draft thoroughly.

“As a Thai citizen, I have the right to reveal [my stance]. I'm not trying to influence voters,” he said.

He urged voters to exercise their right on referendum day and not be swayed by others.

He also maintained that he and the junta did not want to retain power and they would keep their promise of holding an election next year.

In full military uniform, Prayut announced his stand during a ceremony to pay respect to  King Rama V on the occasion of the 129th anniversary of the establishment of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy by the king.
