‘People’s Reform Party’ proposed

A “People’s Reform Party” will be formed by citizens of all stripes from all over the country to ensure it will not be manipulated by special interests, a former constitution framer said Tuesday.

Paiboon Nititawan said he would call on people in the provinces and Bangkok to join forces to set up the new political party and overhaul politics.
He said he was delighted that the majority of voters or 15.5 million people approved the charter and the proposal to allow the unelected Senate to participate in the selection of the next prime minister.
He said he had discussed his idea with like-minded people who want to set in motion the reform movement and ensure transparency in politics. They agreed to set up the new political party under the name People’s Reform Party.
“This party will give the opportunity to people who detest dirty politics and corruption to participate in checking politicians,” he said.
