The court spent over two hours to deliberate the request of Deputy Police Commissioner Pol Gen Sriwarah Rangsipramkul for arrest warrant against Sakkarin Karuehat, who was earlier wrongly accused of setting fire to the Tesco Lotus mall in the province.
Police earlier withdrew arson against Sakkarin after it turned out that he went to shop at the mall. He was seen on a security camera entering the mall, prompting police and troops to arrest him.
After the arson charge was dropped, Sriwarah requested an arrest warrant against Sakkarin, a resident of Chiang Mai, on charges of having explosives in possession.
But the court reasoned that Sakkarin has permanent address where police could reach him anytime so the arrest warrant was not necessary.
