Jokowi expresses condolences following King Bhumibol's passing

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has expressed his condolences on the passing of Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the age of 88 on Thursday.

He said King Bhumibol was a world leader who was close to his people and brought prosperity during his reign of 70 years.

"On behalf of the government and people of Indonesia I express my deep condolences over the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The world has lost a leader who was close to the people, a carrier of peace, unity and prosperity for the people of Thailand," Jokowi said during a press conference at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday night.

Jokowi said other leaders should emulate King's Bhumibol modesty and concerns for his people.
