Tuk-tuk drivers’ club president shot dead in Phuket ambush

The head of a tuk-tuk drivers’ organisation in Phuket was shot dead early Tuesday morning as he drove home in the island's Krathu district.

Police suspect the murder of 58-year-old Sakhon Srisomphoch, president of the Patong Tuk-Tuk Drivers’ Club, stemmed from a business-related dispute or a personal grievance.
After the alarm was raised around 3am, police went to the front of Phuket Villa Krathu Housing Estate where they found the victim's body inside his modified tuk-tuk in the middle of the road.
Initial investigations established that Sakhon was driving home when unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at him before fleeing the scene.
