US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's attempts to reach out to Indians in America have been well advertised. “If I am elected President, the Indian and Hindu community will have a true friend in the White House, that I can guarantee you,” he said besides calling India a "key" and "strategic ally"

Among his poll managers are some Indians. Avinash Iragavarapu, who did MBA from Lucknow IIM is managing the Arizona campaign but the man said to be behind Trump's penchant for Indians is Shalabh "Shalli" Kumar, a Chicago-based businessman and Republican donor.

At a recent fund raiser Indians were delighted when Trump gave a slogan in Hindi 'Abki Bar Trump Sarkar'. It did not matter to them if some other Americans thought it was bizarre.
