Security beefed up after arson, bomb attacks

Authorities in Songkhla and Pattani provinces have beefed up security measures – including more checkpoints and stricter screening of people and vehicles – following fatal bomb and arson attacks in the areas this week.
Soldiers, police and administrative officials in Hat Yai district of Songkhla increased patrols and checkpoints at the three inbound routes to downtown Hat Yai. One of their focuses is on suspicious vehicles following intelligence reports that insurgents may have used stolen cars to launch the attack.
The plan is in line with the province’s maximum-level safety plan.
